Unlike traditional tools that require designated entry and exit points, this robot can be deployed without any structural modifications. It allows for real-time inspection, eliminating the need for delayed post-processing from recorded videos. Designed as a compact and intelligent system, it specifically caters to the unique operational needs of raw water pipelines, which differ significantly from those of oil and gas lines.

Current pipeline inspection methods—especially in oil, gas, and water utilities—require manual launching ports and produce offline inspection videos, which delays issue detection and increases maintenance costs. In raw water pipelines, undetected internal corrosion, sedimentation, or structural issues can lead to burst pipes and service interruptions, particularly before water reaches treatment plants.

The robot is inserted into the pipeline and operates autonomously or remotely, using an onboard wide-angle real-time camera system. It inspects pipelines from the inside without modifying the pipe network, allowing operators to diagnose faults or monitor pipeline conditions live, with high image accuracy and mobility.

This innovation is a smart inspection robot developed by UTM for raw water pipelines. It moves through the pipeline on its own and captures real-time video from inside, helping operators detect issues early without stopping water flow or changing the pipe structure. Unlike traditional methods that rely on manual access points and delayed video reviews, this system offers live, high-quality visuals. It helps prevent problems like corrosion or blockages that could cause pipe bursts before water reaches treatment plants.
