The Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI) has appointed Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam, Secretary General of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), and Huzairi Zainal Abidin, a senior officer from the Ministry of Finance (MOF), to its Board of Directors.
Hasnol brings over three decades of leadership experience in policy development, trade strategy, and institutional transformation, with key roles across ministries including MOSTI, MITI, and KPDNHEP. His expertise in science, technology, innovation, and economic policy aligns with MRANTI’s mission to drive innovation-led growth.
Huzairi, with over 20 years in fiscal policy, macroeconomic management, and Islamic finance, currently oversees Malaysia’s major economic stimulus packages under MOF’s LAKSANA unit. His background in governance and economic strategy supports MRANTI’s efforts to commercialise research responsibly and efficiently.
The appointments aim to enhance MRANTI’s strategic oversight and capacity as the agency scales its role in linking research with economic impact, particularly amid Malaysia’s advancing digital transformation and competition in frontier technologies such as AI and biotech.
The new Board members officially joined MRANTI in May 2025, signalling a strengthened focus on innovation governance, policy integration, and market-driven technology commercialisation.
