The competitive advantage of the project lies in the utilisation of abundant waste materials in Malaysia to produce activated carbon, supporting a “waste-to-wealth” approach. This transforms low-value waste into a valuable adsorbent for air and water purification, reducing environmental pollution while creating economic opportunities through sustainable resource utilisation.

Toxic gases in the air and contaminants in water present significant environmental and health risks, affecting air quality and water safety. There is a need for effective and efficient purification methods to remove these harmful substances and ensure cleaner, safer air and water for human use.

The solution is the use of activated carbon in granular form as an adsorbent. This material provides a practical and effective approach for removing toxic gases and contaminants from air and water through adsorption, supporting improved purification and environmental safety.

The project innovates the use of granular activated carbon as an efficient adsorbent to remove toxic gases and water contaminants. It provides a practical and scalable solution for improving air and water quality, supporting safer environmental and public health outcomes.
