The project’s competitive advantage is its integration of an IMU with a graphene-based insole, enabling use across sports and everyday activities. It delivers real-time monitoring of gait, pressure, and balance with instant feedback, helping improve performance and prevent injuries by detecting movement irregularities and optimising load distribution. It also provides personalised, data-driven insights through a companion app for training and progress tracking, with seamless wireless connectivity for easy smartphone integration.

There is a growing need for solutions that can improve performance, comfort, and injury prevention during sports, fitness, and recreational activities. Many existing footwear and training approaches do not provide real-time feedback or personalised insights, which limits users’ ability to optimise performance and reduce the risk of injury. This is particularly challenging for both professional athletes and casual users who require better support to monitor and improve their physical activity effectively.
